Abstract (english)
Mithraism was an old Persian religion which, in the first century of a new era, spread out on the whole Roman Empire. There it embedded so deply in the next three centuries and became important part of the Roman spiritual and social life. In the middle of the second century The cult of Mithras found the way to the roman province Dalmatia. There mithraism was firmly established with all of his theological, ideological and other components. The cult was developing in province until the end of fourth century when it fades away together with all other pagan belifes because the Christianity became new official religion of the Roman Empire. A total of 36 epigraphical monuments found in the teritory of the roman province Dalmatia confirmes worship of the Persian god Mithra. Analyzing these finds we can learn many about his followers: their role in the cult, social status, ethnic origin, age, sex and the time when they lived.
