Abstract
Čitanje je temelj pismenosti i preduvjet svakog osposobljavanja. Ono je jedna od najzahtjevnijih jezičnih djelatnosti i usvajanje vještina čitanja dugotrajan je proces. Ovim radom želio se dobiti uvid u čitateljske navike i stavove o čitanju učenika srednjih škola. Također, ispitan je i doprinos individualnih karakteristika njihovim stavovima o čitanju. Istraživanje je provedeno na 308 učenika prvog i drugog razreda strukovnih i gimnazijskih škola na području grada Splita. Rezultati su pokazali da mladi svoje slobodno vrijeme vrlo rijetko provode čitajući. Školsku lektiru ne vole čitati, smatraju je nezanimljivom i beskorisnom te je čitaju samo kada moraju. Nadalje, dobiveni rezultati pokazali su da djevojčice čitaju više od dječaka i da biraju drugačije književne vrste i teme. Stavovi učenika o čitanju povezani su sa spolom, emocionalnom kompetentnosti i vrstom škole koju učenici pohađaju. Pozitivnije stavove prema čitanju imaju djevojčice, gimnazijalci i učenici s većom razinom emocionalne kompetentnosti.
Abstract (english)
Reading is the foundation of literacy and the prerequisite of each training. It is one of the most demanding language activities and the acquisition of reading skills is a long-lasting process. This study was designed in order to gain insight into reading habits and attitudes about reading of high school students. Also, the contribution of individual characteristics to their reading attitudes was examined. The research was conducted on 308 first and second grade students of vocational and high school schools in the Split area. The results showed that young people rarely spend their free time reading. Students don't like to read books prescribed by school, they find them uninteresting and useless and they read them only when they have to. Further, the results showed that girls read more than boys and choose different literary types and themes. The students' attitudes towards reading are related to gender, emotional competence, and type of school that students are attending. Positive attitudes towards reading include girls, high school students and students with a higher level of emotional competence.
