Abstract
Ovaj diplomski rad predstavlja kontrastivnu analizu humora u seriji Moderna obitelj. Glavna svrha rada bila je analizirati kako je humor preveden u titlovima te koje su se prevoditeljske procedure koristile u procesu prevođenja kako bi se postigla jednakost i humorističnost. Sastoji se od teorijskog i praktičnog dijela. Teorijski dio sadrži kontrastivnu analizu i njene karakteristike; pravila titlovanja i titlovanja humora; različite vrste humora i kratko izlaganje serije Moderna obitelj. Praktični dio sadrži kontrastivnu analizu 48 titlova s definiranim procedurama. Rezultati analize pokazuju koji tip šala je najčešće neuspješno preveden te koje su prevoditeljske procedure negativno utjecale na proces prevođenja humora. Rad otkriva kompleksnost prevođenja humora i naglašava važnost kontrastivne analize.
Abstract (english)
This master’s thesis deals with a contrastive analysis of humor in the series Modern family. The main point of the thesis was to analyze how humor was translated in the subtitles and which translation procedures were used in the process of translation in order to achieve equivalence and humorous effect. It consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part contains the definition contrastive analysis and its characteristics; the rules of subtitling and subtitling humor; different types of humor, and a short representation of the show Modern family. The practical part contains the contrastive analysis of forthy-eight subtitles with the analysis of procedures used in the process of translation. The results of the analysis show which type of jokes was most frequently translated unsuccessfully or with a diminished humorous effect, and which translation procedures negatively influenced the process of translating humor. The thesis discloses the complexity of translating humor and emphasizes the importance of contrastive analysis.
