Abstract
Vasko Lipovac bio je hrvatski polivalentni umjetnik, slikar, kipar, grafiĉar, dizajner, ilustrator i scenograf te jedan od najistaknutijih umjetnika regije. Rodom Kotoranin, a prebivalištem Splićanin posjedovao je veliku paletu tema koje je prikazivao u svojim djelima. Mornari, svećenici, sveci, sportaši i žene koje ĉekaju svoje muževe samo su neki od likova koji se pojavljuju u njegovom raznolikom opusu. Središte njegova interesa uvijek je bila ljudska figura. Koliko god bila stilizirana, ona je životna, priĉa svoju neku priĉu, govori sama za sebe. Poznat je po minimalistiĉkoj figuraciji i upotrebi intenzivne palete boja. Istaknuo se u obradi razliĉitih tema i u raznovrsnim materijalima te je stekao i svjetsku slavu. Lipovac je stvarao iz osobnog bogatog fundusa viđenog i zapamćenog. Bio je posrednik između prošlog i sadašnjeg te je ishodište pronalazio u sintezi tradicije i modernoga. U obradi religijskih tema izlazi iz ikonografskih okvira jer smatra da oni sputavaju umjetnikovu kreativnost, budući da imaju neke već zadane parametre. Na svojim religioznim djelima intervenira i nadopunjuje ih na osoban naĉin.
Abstract (english)
Vasko Lipovac was a Croatian contemporary painter, sculptor, graphic designer, illustrator, designer and scenographer and one of the most prominent artists of the region. A native of Kotor, but residing in Split, Lipovac addressed a wide range of themes in his work. Sailors, priests, saints, athletes and women awaiting their husbands are just a few of the characters appearing in his diverse portfolio. His main point of interest was always the human figure. No matter how stylized, it is full of life, tells its own story and speaks for itself. He is best known for minimalist figuration and use of intense palette. He distinguished himself in the interpretation of various themes using a wide range of materials and became famous worldwide. His work was inspired by what he has seen and remembered. He was a mediator between the past and the present and found a source of inspiration in a connection of tradition and modernity. In dealing with religious themes, he diverges from iconographic framework because he believes it hinders the creativity since it already has defined parameters. In his religious works he intervenes and complements them in a personalized way.
