In the first part of this essay there is a short overview on the Ivo Vojnović 's literary work with the emphasis on the Dubrovnik's drama cycle as the drama analysed in this essay is the part of the same cycle. Dubrovačka trilogija consists of three plays: Allons enfants!, Suton, Na taraci, framed with two sonets from the collection Lapadski soneti: Prelude and Na Mihajlu. The topic of Dubrovačka trilogija is the collapse of Dubrovnik's nobility with the main part of this essay focused on the analysis of that same collapse. The analysis was performed on three areas: beginning with the political downfall of Dubrovačka Republika, next ellaborating the social-economic collapse of Dubrovnik's nobility and ending with the moral downfall of the nobility and its ultimate end. There is also a short analysis in the second part of the essay on the topic of male-female relationships and female roles in the play Dubrovačka Trilogija regarding their very much different roles comparing to men in Dubrovačka Republika. Women give a major contribution to the society in the play, especially in the second part, because they are shown as guardians of one-time glory and power. They tend to sacrifice their own happiness in order to obey the laws of one-time society system. The play also presents the descendants' drama, the life of the nobility's progeny in three played outcomes: one part of them tries to understand the reasons of their ancestors' inevitable downfall and while doing so does not succeed to cope with their present reality. The second part enters the game of trading their family names in matrimonies with the middle class and the third part decides to erase all connections with the past and survive and bear the fruits of their own work.
