Abstract
Svrha ovog rada je predstaviti španjolsko-meksičku nadrealističku umjetnicu Remedios Varo i obraditi čimbenike koji su utjecali na njeno slikarstvo. Potaknuta neugodnim životnim iskustvima, poput egzila i spolne diskriminacije, umjetnica ostvaruje djela koja postaju njena autobiografija i pričaju priču o nadrealizmu iz novog kuta gledišta. Problematiku svoje nacionalnosti, kao i pitanje reprezentacije identiteta, Varo isprepliće s ikonografijom mističkih učenja koja su joj pomogla prebroditi prošlost i utabati put ka boljoj budućnosti. Djelujući van usustavljenih granica nadrealizma Remedios Varo postavlja nove standarde umjetnosti, a njeni prikazi refleksije su uistinu liberalnih stavova i ideja.
Abstract (english)
The purpose of this paper is to present a Spanish - Mexican surrealist artist Remedios Varo and elucidate the factors that influenced her painting. By force of circumstances, like exile and gender discrimination, the artist created works that became her autobiography and told the story about surrealism from another point of view. Varo intertwines the issue of her nationality as well as the question of identity representation with the iconography of the mystic teaching that helped her overcome the past and turn to a better future. By creating beyond the systematized limits of surrealism Remedios Varo sets up new standards for the art world, and her paintings stand as reflections of truly liberal attitudes and ideas.
