Abstract
Ovaj rad posvećen je opisivanju značenja životinjskih prikaza na portalu majstora Radovana smještenog u predvorju trogirske katedrale sv. Lovre. Portal je nastao u 13. stoljeću, a nadograđen je u razdoblju gotike i renesanse. Analiza obuhvaća reljefe na dvama oblim stupićima koji se nalaze odmah uz ulaz, te dvije lavlje skulpture koje sa svake strane flankiraju portal. Cilj rada je sumirati dosadašnja saznanja o spomenutim reljefima i opisati njihova ikonografijska značenja od prapovijesti do srednjeg vijeka. Objašnjena su simbolička značenja sljedećih životinja: lav, zmaj, kentaur, bik, satir, zec, zmija, medvjed, majmun, vepar, pas i jelen.
Abstract (english)
This work is dedicated to describing the meaning of animal portraits of Master Radovan's portal of St. Lovre's cathedral in Trogir. The portal dates from 13th century and was upgraded in the periods of gothic and renaissance. The analysis includes reliefs of two round pillars (pylons) situated right by the entrance, together with two lion sculptures which flank the portal on both sides. The aim of this paper is to collect all the findings about the above mentioned reliefs and present their iconographic meanings from prehistory to the middle ages. Symbolic meanings of the following animals have been explained: a lion, a dragon, a centaur, a bull, a satyr, a rabbit, a snake, a bear, a monkey, a boar, a dog and a deer.
