Abstract
Marija Jurić Zagorka bila je jedna od najplodnijih hrvatskih spisateljica 20. stoljeća, a u svom je stvaralaštvu eksperimentirala i s nekim novim, dotad hrvatskoj čitateljskoj publici nepoznatim, žanrovima. Tako se, između ostalog, okušala i u žanru znanstvene fantastike ili, preciznije rečeno, u žanru protoznanstvene fantastike i napisala roman Crveni ocean. U vrijeme nastanka ovog romana svijetom su se širile ideje socijalizma, klasne jednakosti i slobode koje su do vrhunca došle u revoluciji koja je buktjela Rusijom 1917. godine, a te je ideje o novom poretku svijeta Zagorka implementirala u roman, nastojeći proširiti vidike svojih čitatelja. Ovaj rad proučava odjeke revolucije u romanu, ali i utopijske ideje koje se javljaju kao posljedica želje za stvaranjem radikalno drugačijeg društva.
Abstract (english)
Marija Juric Zagorka was one of the most prolific Croatian writers of the 20th century, and in her creative work she experimented with new genres which were, until then, unknown to the Croatian readership. She experimented, among other things, with the science fiction, or more precisely, the genre of proto-science fiction and wrote the novel Crveni ocean. During the period in which the novel was created, the ideas of socialism, class equality and freedom were rapidly spreading all over the world with the culmination during Russian Revolution in 1917. The same ideas about the new world ordered were implemented in the novel by Zagorka herself, who sought to broaden the views of its readers. This paper examines the echoes of the revolution in the novel, as well as the utopian ideas that emerge as a result of the desire to create a radically different society.
