Bribirska glavica represents a locality that allows us to monitor the development of different historical periods and the ways in which they altered, thus giving us an insight into the changes of its inhabitants’ quality of life. People’s first contact with this locality can be traced back to the Prehistoric period, while later on, in the Classical period, at the same location, a much more concrete settlement was formed, which continued to develop during the periods to follow. It is precisely this transition from the Classical period to the Middle Ages which currently provides the greatest number of interesting discoveries. New research brings about brand new conclusions and corrects the old misinterpretations which have been considered true just a few years ago. This applies mostly to rotunda, which was always classified as an early medieval church with a hexaconch type floor plan, but thanks to recent research, we have come to know it actually being a certain octaconch dating back to the late Classical period. It is very likely that even the research to follow will introduce something new to round up the view of life in Bribirska glavica. The importance of Bribirska glavica and the settlement that existed there and changed its name over time, carried on all the way to the Modern age, reaching its peak together with Šubić family’s influence on the political situation in this area. The construction of a rather imposing monastery complex, for a place like this, speaks volumes of what it truly meant to Šubić family. Over-dependence on this family eventually led to the collapse of the settlement itself which was never rebuilt in the same location.
