Abstract
Sv. Ivan Trogirski bitna je crkvena ličnost srednjovjekovnog Trogira koji je na čelu trogirske biskupije bio od 1064. do 1111. godine. Nakon što je postao trogirski biskup provodi niz reformi kojima obnavlja trogirsku Crkvu. Tijekom svog biskupovanja istaknuo se kao vrstan propovjednik, zagovaratelj mira i čudotvorac, zbog čega je bio poštovan od mnogih uglednih ljudi onog vremena, a posebice od hrvatsko-ugarskog kralja Kolomana. Nakon smrti biskupa Ivana, razvija se poboţnost Trogirana prema biskupu Ivanu što se odrazilo i na umjetničku produkciju kasnijih razdoblja. U ovom su diplomskom radu obraĎeni prikazi sv. Ivana Trogirskog u likovnoj umjetnosti Dalmacije od XV. do XIX. st. Analizirani su prikazi trogirskog biskupa u slikarstvu, kiparstvu i zlatarstvu u mjestima povijesnih dalmatinskih biskupija – Trogirske, Šibenske, Hvarske, Korčulanske te Splitske nadbiskupije.
Abstract (english)
St. John of Trogir in the fine art of Dalmatia from the 15th to 19th century This diploma thesis presents the visual depictions of Saint John of Trogir in the fine arts of Dalmatia in the period from 15th to 19th century. The author of this thesis analyzes depictions of Saint John of Trogir in painting, sculpture and goldsmithing in the churches, museums, treasuries and private collections of historical Dalmatian dioceses of Trogir, Šibenik, Hvar, Korčula and Archdiocese of Split. Saint John of Trogir was an important ecclesiastical figure of medieval Trogir, who headed the Diocese of Trogir from 1064 to 1111. After becoming bishop of Trogir, he renewed the Church of Trogir. During his episcopacy, he distinguished himself as an exellent preacher, advocate of peace, and a miracle worker, for which he was respected by many notable people of that time, especially by the Croatian-Hungarian king Coloman. After the death of bishop John, the devotion of people from Trogir to their bishop has been spreading for centuries. That devotion was reflected in the artistic production, especially from 15th to 19th century.
