Abstract
L’oggetto della presente tesi di laurea è la presentazione degli elementi postmoderni nel romanzo Il nome della rosa di Umberto Eco, un esponente della letteratura postmoderna in Italia. La tesi comincia con la parte teorica che cerca di spiegare la differenza tra il moderno e il postmoderno. In seguito si discute dello sviluppo del postmoderno e dei suoi critici più importanti come Linda Hutcheon, Brian McHale e Umberto Eco. La parte principale della tesi si concentra sull’analisi dettagliata delle caratteristiche principali della letteratura postmoderna (doppia codificazione, intertestualità, ironia intertestuale e metanarratività) e la loro importanza nel romanzo.
Abstract (english)
The subject of this thesis is the presentation of the postmodern elements in the novel The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, a representative of postmodern literature in Italy. The thesis begins with the theoretical part which tries to explain the difference between the modern and the postmodern. Later the thesis discusses the development of postmodernism and its most important critics such as Linda Hutcheon, Brian McHale and Umberto Eco. The main part of the thesis focuses on the detailed analysis of the main characteristics of postmodern literature (double coding, intertextuality, intertextual irony and metanarrative) and their importance in the novel.
