Abstract
U radu će se prikazati kulturni razvoj za vrijeme vladavine Luja XIV, u razdoblju od 1643. do 1715. godine. Razdoblje od 1643. do 1661. godine je doba kada državom ustvari upravljaju njegova majka Ana Austrijska i kardinal Mazarin zbog maloljetnosti kralja. Od 1661. godine mnoge se promjene događaju, pogotovo na kulturnom aspektu i mijenjanju načina života plemstva koje je lišeno velike političke moći radi centralizacije monarhije. Zbog ljubavi prema umjetnosti i kulturi, Luj XIV potiče njihov razvoj, koji će ostaviti posljedice na cijelu buduću sliku europskog kulturnog razvoja. Njegovu vladavinu pamtimo po raskošnoj palači koju je dao izgraditi- Versailles, koja dan danas predstavlja jedan od najveličanstvenijih simbola Francuske. Otvaranjem akademije i poticanjem razvitka znanosti stvara se temelj za razvoj modernog građanskog društva. Kralj je upravljao samostalno, ali je također zapošljavao ministre koji su mu davali savjete u poljima u kojima kralj nije htio trošiti previše vremena, koji su bili odabrani od kralja prema svom radu i talentu, a ne samo prema rođenju. Njegova velika želja da stvori najbogatiju i najraskošniju palaču na svijetu je izazvala mnoštvo negodovanja od strane naroda i lagano se ispraznila državna blagajna, a ekonomija i privreda su se uništile. No to sve ne može zanemariti činjenicu da je Luj XIV vladar koji je najviše pridonio razvoju kulture i umjetnosti, čiji se utjecaj osjeća i danas.
Abstract (english)
In this paper, a cultural development during the 1649.-1715. reign of Louis XIV will be shown. Period of 1643.-1661. was the age when Ana of Austria, his mother and cardinal Mazarin jointly ruled the monarchy due the king's young age. In the year of 1661., many changes occurred, especially in the cultural field and changed the noblemen's way of life. They were stripped of any political power due to the centralization of the monarchy. Because of his affection toward the art and culture, Louis XIV encourages its development which will leave consequences on development of entire European culture. His reign is mostly remembered by the magnificent palace he had built – Versailles, which represents to this day the most glorified symbol of France. By opening the academy and encouraging science development, Louis set the foundation for development of a modern society. King ruled independently , but he still employed ministers who were advising him on subjects he didn't want to invest time.They were chosen by the king by their work ethic and talent, not by birth right. His grand desire to create the richest and the most magnificent palace in the world caused many turmoils in the people, the state's treasury went empty and the economy and growth were destroyed. Yet nothing can hide the fact that Louis XIV was a ruler who contributed the most to development of culture and art, whose influence is felt to this day.
