Abstract
Ovaj rad bavi se recepcijom romana Sati Michaela Cunninghama, odnosno analizom djela iz perspektive književne kritike i šire čitateljske publike. Analiza kreće od motivacije nastanka djela, njegove poveznice s modernističkim klasikom Gospođa Dalloway Virginije Woolf te obilježja postmodernizma u romanu, kao što su suvremeno reispisivanje te davanje glasa i pozornosti ženskim likovima. Teorija recepcije označava odnos između djela i čitatelja, a ključni je pojam horizont očekivanja. Vrijednost svakog djela ostvaruje se upravo kroz njegove čitatelje, oni su zaslužni za to koliki će utjecaj i trag neko djelo ostaviti kroz povijest. Usporedivši recepciju književne kritike i čitatelja, preko nekoliko znanstvenih radova i raznih mrežnih izvora, zaključuje se da roman Sati, uz pokoju negativnu zamjerku, u velikoj većini krase pozitivni dojmovi proglašen je veoma uspješnim književnim ostvarenjem te može s ponosom stajati uz djelo Virginije Woolf.
Abstract (english)
This paper deals with the reception of the novel The Hours by Michael Cunningham and the analysis of the novel from the perspective of literary criticism and readers. The analysis starts with the motivation for the creation of the novel, its connection with the modernist classic Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf and the features of postmodernism, such is the contemporary retelling and giving voice and attention to female characters. Reception theory denotes the relationship between the novel and the reader, and the key notion is horizon of expectation. The value of each work is accomplished precisely through its readers, they are responsible for the decision which novels will have influence and leave a trace throughout history. After comparing the reception of literary criticism and readers, through several scientific papers and various online sources, it is concluded that the novel The Hours, with a few negative objections, adorns positive impressions in the vast majority and it is a very successful literary achievement, one that can proudly stand next to the work of Virginia Woolf.
