Abstract
Ikonografija smrti tema je koja nipošto nije neobrađena u dosadašnjoj literaturi o umjetnosti na dalmatinskom području od kasnog srednjeg vijeka do baroka, no informacije o istoj raštrkane su po značajnom broju djela koja se većinom bave potpuno drugom tematikom. Djelo koje bi obuhvatilo veću količinu djela koja takvu ikonografiju uključuju, stavilo ih u kontekst društvene misli o smrti, te ih usporedilo s relevantnim europskim primjerima još uvijek se nije našlo među autorskim doprinosima. Ovaj rad pokušava uspostaviti barem opći pregled o umjetnosti smrti na području Dalmacije, kako bi ukazao kojim su od brojnih makabrističkih umjetničkih obrazaca naručitelji i umjetnici tog područja bili privrženi.
Abstract (english)
The iconography of death is a topic that was by no means disregarded in existing literature about art in Dalmatia from the late Medieval to the Baroque period, but information about it is scattered over a significant body of work whose primary focus mostly lies elsewhere. A concentrated effort that would encompass a larger body of work including such iconography, then contextualize it into prevalent social perspectives on death at the time and compare it with relevant European counterparts has yet to come into the sights of contributors. This paper attempts to, at the very least, establish an overview about death art in the Dalmatian region, in order to show which of the macabre artistic tropes both artists and their buyers harbored most affinity for
