Abstract
La parte centrale della tesi sono tre saggi di Leonardo Sciascia su Luigi Pirandello: Alfabeto pirandelliano, Pirandello e il pirandellismo e Pirandello e la Sicilia. Attraverso tutti e tre i saggi, Sciascia analizza Pirandello, la sua vita, le persone, i luoghi e il contesto storico influenzarono la sua vita e opere. Sciascia descrive tutti i cambiamenti storici che influenzarono la Sicilia e scrive del fenomeno della mafia sull’isola dove fiorì e da dove si diffuse. Spiega l’umorismo, introdotto da Pirandello, attraverso la prospettiva del suo più importante critico Adriano Tilgher. Si sofferma anche sui personaggi pirandelliani che attraversano le crisi d’identità e presta attenzione al teatro pirandelliano che aprì la porta al teatro che conosciamo oggi. Inoltre, viene analizzata la poetica e la vita di Sciascia attraverso le quali si possono vedere somiglianze con la vita pirandelliana. Anche se vivevano in periodi diversi, sono legati da traumi familiari e dal comune luogo di nascita, Agrigento. Entrambi furono influenzati dalla mentalità siciliana, dalla sicilianità e sicilitudine. Proprio perciò Sciascia si interessa a Pirandello, alla sua vita e al suo lavoro.
Abstract (english)
The main part of this paper are three essays on Luigi Pirandello written by Leonardo Sciascia: Alfabeto pirandelliano, Pirandello e il pirandellismo e Pirandello e la Sicilia. Through all three essays, Sciascia analyzes Pirandello, his life, persons, places, and the historical context that influenced him as a writer and as a person. Sciascia describes all the historical changes that Sicily has gone through and writes about the phenomenon of mafia that flourished on that island from where it has spread further. He explains Pirandello’s concept of humor through the perspective of his greatest critic Adriano Tilgher. He also dwells on Pirandello’s characters that are going through an identity crisis, and pays attention to Pirandello’s theater, which has opened a door to the theater that we know today. Moreover, the thesis analyzes Sciascia’s poetics and life which is similar to Pirandello’s. Although they lived in different time periods, they are connected by family traumas and a common birthplace Agrigento. Both were greatly influenced by the Sicilian mentality, sicilianità and sicilitudine. That is why Sciascia was interested in Pirandello and his life and work.
