Music plays an important role in the life of a child of early and preschool age, and musical activities have a significant positive impact on the child's overall development. A preschool child encounters music through play. Pleasant, rhytmic and quiet music has an optimal effect on early growth and development (Dobrota 2019). Music and dance are extremely connected because dance movement is the body's natural response to music. With the help of music and dance, the child develops basic movements such as walking and running, thus contributing to the development of motor skills (Milinović 2015). Through dance and dance activities, children also learn to control their movements, which helps them in everyday life, play and sports. Dance has a positive influence on the creation of social values, the development of artistic experience and enriches the child's culture (Vlašić, Oreb and Horvatin-Fučkar 2007). Creative dance is increasingly coming to the fore, and according to Cetinić and Vidaković Samardžija (2014), it is defined as a form of art with which children can express themselves in various ways. The goal of creative dance is to express oneself spontaneously through movement and allow the child to explore his environment in a new and different way. The educator should look for ways to make the most of all the child's possibilities, including those of dance, in agreement with the children and according to their interests. The characteristics of the children in the group should be considered and the music that suits them best should be chosen (Bolješić 2021).
