Abstract
Krepost se kao koncept moralne čistoće popularizirala u srednjem vijeku kao preslika moralnih odlika vremena u kojem je propagiran isposnički, gotovo asketski način života u kojem se čovjek priprema za susret s Bogom. Krepost se kao motiv pojavljuje i u tadašnjim djelima, kako u europskoj tako i u hrvatskoj srednjovjekovnoj književnosti. U djelima koja su obrađena u ovom završnom radu: apokrifima, vizijama, svetačkim legendama, pričama i romanima, Marijinim čudesima te u lirskom, epskom i dramskom pjesništvu, krepost je prikazana kao moralna odlika junaka koji uz Božju pomoć i skrušeni način života uspijevaju pobijediti kušnje, što im daje nadu da će nakon tjelesne smrti zaslužiti mjesto u raju.
Abstract (english)
Virtue as a concept of moral purity was popularized in the Middle Ages as a reflection of the moral characteristics of a time in which the stern, almost ascetic way of life was propagated, in which man prepares to meet God. Virtue appears as a motif in the works of that time, in European, as well as in Croatian medieval literature. In the works dealt with in this thesis: apocrypha, visions, saints' legends, stories and novels, miracles of Mary and in lyrical, epic and dramatic poetry, virtue is shown as a moral characteristic of heroes who, with God's help and a repentant lifestyle, manage to overcome trials, which gives them hope that they will earn a place in heaven after physical death.
