Abstract
Rad istražuje utjecaj multimedije na mentalno zdravlje učenika srednjih škola u Republici Hrvatskoj. Cilj istraživanja je identificirati kako korištenje multimedijskih sadržaja utječe na anksioznost, depresiju i samopoštovanje učenika, odnosno kakav je učinak multimedije na mentalno zdravlje srednjoškolaca u Republici Hrvatskoj. Kroz teorijske okvire i rezultate empirijskog istraživanja, rad analizira pozitivne i negativne aspekte multimedije, uključujući prednosti poput poboljšanja odgojno-obrazovnih ishoda i rizike poput socijalne izolacije i poremećaja spavanja. Istraživanje koristi kvantitativne metode, uključujući upitnike o demografskim podacima, korištenju multimedije i mentalnom zdravlju, te Rosenbergovu skalu za mjerenje samopoštovanja. Rezultati ukazuju na značajnu povezanost između vremena provedenog na društvenim mrežama i razina anksioznosti, dok korištenje edukativnih multimedijskih sadržaja pozitivno korelira s boljim školskim uspjehom i manjim razinama stresa. Na temelju ovih nalaza, formulirane su preporuke za promicanje digitalne pismenosti, postavljanje jasnih granica i poticanje zdravih digitalnih navika kako bi se smanjili negativni učinci multimedije na mentalno zdravlje učenika.
Abstract (english)
This final paper explores the impact of multimedia on the mental health of high school students in Croatia. The aim of the research is to identify how the use of multimedia content affects anxiety, depression and self-esteem of adolescents, i.e. what is the effect of multimedia on the mental health of high school students in Croatia. Through theoretical frameworks and empirical research, the paper analyses the positive and negative aspects of multimedia, including benefits such as improved educational outcomes and risks such as social isolation and sleep disorders. The research uses quantitative methods, including questionnaires on demographics, multimedia use, and mental health, and a Rosenberg scale to measure self-esteem. The results indicate a significant correlation between time spent on social networks and anxiety levels, while the use of educational multimedia content positively correlates with better school performance and lower stress levels. Based on these findings, recommendations were formulated to promote digital literacy, set clear boundaries, and encourage healthy digital habits to reduce the negative effects of multimedia on young people's mental health.
