Abstract
Samodijagnosticiranje, koje uključuje korištenje interneta za prepoznavanje zdravstvenih problema, postaje sve češća praksa i trend u modernom društvu. Iako internet omogućuje brz pristup velikim količinama informacija, može dovesti do pogrešnih dijagnoza, pretjerane anksioznosti i neprikladnog samoliječenja. Samodijagnosticiranje postaje dio kulture zdravlja u kojoj današnje potrošačko društvo teži mladosti, vitalnosti i energiji, potičući potrošače da koriste različite strategije kako bi postigli ideal zdravog tijela. Glavni cilj ovoga istraživanja je ispitati korištenje Interneta kao alata za samodijagnosticiranja i istražiti stavove studenata Filozofskog fakulteta u Splitu. Istraživanje je provedeno tijekom rujna 2024. godine putem online upitnika na uzorku od 154 studenta. Rezultati sugeriraju da postoje spolne razlike u stavovima prema internetskim zdravstvenim informacijama, dok godine studija i financijski status ne igraju značajnu ulogu. Iskustvo pretraživanja zdravstvenih informacija može se razlikovati među sociodemografskim skupinama, stoga je važno dodatno istražiti ovaj fenomen unutar hrvatskog socio-kulturnog konteksta.
Abstract (english)
Self-diagnosis, which involves using the Internet to identify health problems, is becoming an increasingly common practice and trend in modern society. Although the Internet provides quick access to large amounts of information, it can lead to misdiagnosis, excessive anxiety, and inappropriate self-medication. Self-diagnosis is becoming part of the culture of health in which today's consumer society strives for youth, vitality and energy, encouraging consumers to use different strategies to achieve the ideal of a healthy body. The main goal of this research is to examine the use of the Internet as a tool for self-diagnosis and to investigate the attitudes of students at the Faculty of Philosophy in Split. The research was conducted during September 2024 through an online questionnaire on a sample of 154 students. The results suggest that there are gender differences in attitudes towards online health information, while years of study and financial status do not play a significant role. The experience of searching for health information may differ between socio-demographic groups, therefore it is important to further investigate this phenomenon within the Croatian socio-cultural context.
