Abstract
Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje upotrebu konceptualnih metafora u intervjuima i političkim govorima dvaju hrvatskih predsjedničkih kandidata, Kolinde Grabar-Kitarović i Ive Josipovića. Teoretska pozadina diplomskog rada obuhvaća definiranje koncepata kao što su politika, komunikacija, politička komunikacija i kognitivna teorija metafore. Najvažniji je cilj istraživanja spoznati sličnosti i razlike u upotrebi konceptualnih metafora kod hrvatskih i američkih predsjedničkih kandidata. Uzorak sadrži 155 konceptualnih metafora koje su analizirane kvalitativno i knatitativno, na temelju metaforičkih kategorija Zoltana Kövacsesa. Naglasak je stavljen na identifikaciju i analizu izvornih domena metafore. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju kako se najučestalije korištene metafore temelje na personifikaciji ili na izvornim domenama zgradâ i gradnje te kretanja i smjera.
Abstract (english)
This thesis deals with the use of conceptual metaphors in interviews and political speeches given by Croatian presidential candidates, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and Ivo Josipović. Theoretical framework of the thesis comprises definition of concepts such as politics, communication, political communication and cognitive theory of metaphor. The main aim of the research is to ascertain the similarities and differences in the use of conceptual metaphors between Croatian and American presidential candidates. The sample encompasses 155 conceptual metaphors which have been analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, in accordance with the metaphorical categories made by Zoltan Kövacses. The emphasis is placed on the source domain identification and analysis. Research findings show that the most frequent metaphors were those based on personification and on the use of source domains of buildings and construction and movement and direction.
