Abstract
Tema diplomskog rada je Grčki utjecaji u materijalnoj kulturi autohtonih zajednica istočne obale Jadrana u vrijeme helenizma. Kada govorimo o grčkim utjecajima koji su prodirali na istočnu obalu Jadrana među autohtone stanovnike, helenistički materijalni ostaci predstavljaju relativno skroman skup predmeta. Iako osnivanje grčkih kolonija od 4. stoljeća pr. Kr pa nadalje označava početak intenzivne helenizacije priobalnih jadranskih područja, taj segment jakog utjecaja u velikoj je mjeri izostao u ruralnim unutrašnjim dijelovima obale gdje su obitavale lokalne zajednice. Iako je geografski prostor između autohtonih zajednica istočne obale Jadrana i grčkih radionica velik, trgovačke aktivnosti među istima su bile česte. U prilog tomu idu i predmeti grčke provenijencije koje se redovito nalaze u grobnim prilozima i ostavama zajedno sa lokalnim proizvodima. Ono čemu je posvećena najveća pažnja u radu jest odjeljivanje onih predmeta koji su čisti grčki import od onih koji su radovi lokalnih radionica, te zasebne grupe svojevrsnih hibridnih proizvoda. Takvi su proizvodi do danas predmet rasprave iz razloga što se u nizu primjera ne može sa sigurnošću tvrditi jesu li oni predmeti koji su izrađivani u lokalnim radionicama pod helenističkim utjecajem, ili su pak proizvodi grčkih hodajućih majstora koji su te predmete izrađivali prema narudžbama imućnijeg sloja. Također je došlo i do pojave sinkretizma između grčkog i lokalnog izričaja na nekim predmetima što je direktan dokaz sudaranja dvaju različitih kulturnih domena u jednom geografskom području.
Abstract (english)
The title of this thesis is “The Greek Influences in the Material Culture of the Indigenous Communities of the Eastern Adriatic in the Hellenistic Period”.When considering Greek influences that penetrated the eastern coast of the Adriatic, Hellenistic archaeological material remains a very modest set of objects. Although the beginning of the intensive helenization of the Adriatic coastal regions is marked by the foundation of the Greek colonies in 4th century and on, the strong influence is absent from the rural inland parts of the coast inhabited by local communities. Even though geographical distance between Eastern Adriatic coast and Greek workshops was great, the joint merchant activities not only existed but flourished, as well. The evidence of this claim is found in objects of clear Greek provenance which can be regularly found in grave goods and offerings side by side with local artefacts. The greatest attention of this thesis is paid to separation of objects which are obvious Greek import from those, so called, individual hybrid artefacts and products of local workshops. Those artefacts are still debatable to this day since it is impossible to claim with certainty whether they were made under Hellenic influences in local workshops or were made by travelling Greek artisans as orders placed by wealthier classes. The phenomenon of syncretism between Greek and domestic expression is apparent in a number of objects, and it is a unique case of two different cultures clashing in a single geographic region.
