Abstract
Stjepan Radić jedan je od najpoznatijih hrvatskih političara 20. stoljeća. Osnivač je hrvatske pučke seljačke stranke. Nakon prvog svjetskog rata suprotstavljao se bezuvjetnom ujedinjenju s Kraljevinom Srbijom. Želeći naglasiti neprihvaćanje monarhizma, borbu za republikanizam i Hrvatsku Seljačku Republiku, mjenja naziv stranke u Hrvatska republikanska seljačka stranka. 1925. suočen sa optužbama vladajućeg režima za komunizam te vrlo izglednom dugogodišnjom robijom mjenja političku taktiku te priznaje monarhiju i postaje ministrom prosvjete u Kraljevini SHS. Međutim vrlo brzo vraća se u oporbu te sklapa dogovor s Pribićevićem o odruženju HSS i SDS u seljačko-demokratsku koaliciju. 20.6.1928. u Narodnoj skupštini u Beogradu zastupnik radikalne stranke Puniša Račić ispalio je hice zastupnike seljačke stranke, koji su smrtno ranili Stjepana Radića, na mjestu ubili narodne zastupnike Pavla Radića i Đuru Basaričeka, te teško ranili Ivana Pernara i Ivana Granđu. Već se tada šaptalo da je taj zločin bio organiziran i da mu je stvarni rukovodilac bio kralj Aleksandar. Ubrzo nakon toga kralj uvodi šestosiječanjsku diktaturu.
Abstract (english)
Stjepan Radić was a Croatian politician and the founder of the Croatian People's Peasant Party. After World War I. he had opposed merging Croatia with the Kingdom of Serbia without guarantees for Croatian autonomy. He changed the name of the party to the Croatian Republican Peasant party because he wanted to emphasize the unaccepting of monarchism, the struggle for republicanism and Croatian Peasnt Republic. 1925. faced with accusation for communism and long-term jail he changed his political tactic, accepted the monarchy and became a minister of education in the Kindom of Serbs, Croats and Slovens. He returned very quickly to the opposition and concluded an agreement with Pribićević about the establishment of HSS and SDS in the peasant-democratic coalition. 20.06.1928. the deputy of radical party Puniša Račić shot at the deputies of the HSS. He killed Pavle Radić and Đuro Basaričen, wounded Ivan Pernar and Ivan Granđa. Stjepan Radić died of the consequences of wounding. Already at that time lot of people were thinking that the crime was organized and that the actual leader was king Alexandar. Shortly after the king introduced his dictatorship.
