Abstract
Holokaust je masovno ubojstvo šest milijuna Židova i milijuna drugih ljudi tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata. Ubojstva su se dogodila u Europi između 1933. i 1945. godine. Najveća skupina žrtava bio je židovski narod. Nacisti su vjerovali da su Židovi problem koji treba ukloniti. Godine 1942. nacisti su izgradili šest koncentracijskih logora u Poljskoj gdje su ubijali ljude u plinskim komorama. Dan sjećanja na holokaust održava se svake godine 27. siječnja. Dan označava obljetnicu oslobođenja koncentracijskog logora od strane vojnika Sovjetske vojske 1945. godine. Dan je i nacionalni znak poštovanja svim žrtvama holokausta, kao i žrtvama drugih genocida širom svijeta.
Abstract (english)
The Holocaust was the mass murder of six million Jews and millions of other people during the Second World War. The murders took place in Europe between 1933 and 1945. The largest group of victims were Jewihs people. The Nazis believed that Jews were a problem that a needed to be removed. In 1942, the Nazis built six concentration camps in Poland where they murdered people in the gas chambers. The Holocaust Memorial Day is held every year on 27 January. The day marks the anniversary of the liberation concentration camp by soldiers of the Soviet Army in 1945. Also, the day is a national mark of respect for all victims of the Holocaust as well as victims of other genocide around the world.
