Abstract
U ovom se radu proučava političko oblikovanje i djelovanje Josipa Smodlake, splitskog pravnika, publicista i političara. U mladosti pravaš, kasnije osnivač Hrvatske demokratske stranke za Dalmaciju, zatim član vodstva Hrvatske pučke napredne stranke i zajedno s Antom Trumbićem i Franom Supilom pokretač 'politike novog kursa'. Kao jedan od najaktivnijih političkih zastupnika iskazao se tijekom svog sudjelovanja u Dalmatinskom saboru i Carevinskom vijeću u Beču. Do proglašenja šestosiječanjske diktature 1929. Imao je dužnost državnog poslanika u Vatikanu, Berlinu i Madridu. U NKOJ-u bio je povjerenik za vanjske poslove, a u jedinstvenoj vladi DFJ ministar bez portfelja. Cilj ovog rada je prikazati onovremena povijesna zbivanja, ključna za razvoj moderne hrvatske povijesti, iz perspektive splitskog političara i pravnika te ukazati na njegovu ulogu u tim procesima.
Abstract (english)
This piece is studying the political influence and activity of Josip Smodlaka, who was a jurist, publicist and politician from Split. In his youth he was supporter and later founder of Croatian democratic party of Dalmatia, later one of the leaders of the Advanced Croatian people party, joined with Ante Trumbić and Frane Supilo, he initiated 'new course politics'. As one of the most active politic representatives he was prominent in his involvement in Dalmatian convocation and Emperors council in Vienna. He had the duty of a state diplomat in Vatican, Berlin and Madrid, until the promulgation of the 6. January dictatorship in 1929. In NKOJ he was a foreign affairs commissioner, and in the unique goverment of DFJ a minister without portfolio. The goal of this piece is to show the political affairs of that time, crucial for the development of modern Croatian history from the perspective of Split's politician, and to show his role in said processes.
