Different changes in society that have occurred over the last twenty years have influenced the development of social awareness of the importance of family for the full and healthy development of children. Every child has the right to a quality, complete and integrated education and support of competent, pedagogically educated adults. In this paper, the problem of pedagogic competence of parents is explained, as primary educators of their children. The fact that a part of the parents still lack the necessary pedagogical knowledge and competences required for a good performance of parental tasks points to the need for greater parenting education and the promotion of their competences. New findings on early childhood development, learning and upbringing based on the humanistic approach are also supported in the institutional context. It best demonstrates the adoption and acceptance of the National Curriculum for Early Childhood and Pre-School Education (2014). Parenting knowledge of the principles, starting values, goals and the framework concept of the humanistic approach provides the parent with the necessary knowledge to improve his / her own educational activity. With the development of parental competence and the quality of co-operation between parents and educators, the harmony of the family and institutional environment is achieved, and thus the highest goal of the humanitarian approach, improving the child's wellbeing.
