Abstract
Cilj ovog diplomskog rada bio je ispitati socio-emocionalne vještine djece primjenom Skale za procjenu ponašanja i emocija (Epstein, 2004), te ispitati njihovu povezanost sa školskim uspjehom, uzimajući u obzir spol ispitanika. Ispitanici su bili učenici šestih razreda osnovne škole (N=119). Dobiveni rezultati ukazuju na prosječne i iznadprosječne snage većine ispitanika, dok je pronađena pozitivna povezanost samo s jednom socio-emocionalnom kompetencijom. Dobivena je statistički značajna razlika ukupne razine socijalno-emocionalne kompetencije (Indeks snage) s obzirom na spol ispitanika; dječaci su ostvarili značajno niže rezultate ukupne razine socijalno-emocionalne kompetencije u odnosu na djevojčice.
Abstract (english)
The relationship between social and emotional competencies and academic achievement The aim of this graduate thesis was to examine social and emotional skills of children by using the Behavioral and Emotional Rating Scale –2nd Edition (BERS-2; Epstein, 2004), as well as to determine the correlation between the aforementioned and the participants’ academic success, with regard to the sex of the participants. The participants were elementary school students (sixth grade, N=119). Results of the study point out to average and above-average social and emotional strengths of the majority of the participants, while a positive correlation was found with only one social emotional competence. Results of the study indicated statistically significant differences in the scores of male and female participants on the overall strength index; male participants had significantly lower scores.
