Abstract
Štovanje i veličanje svojih bogova Grci su prenijeli na kovani novac – svoje službeno sredstvo plaćanja. Profil portreta je korišten jer je odgovarao vrlo plitkoj dubini i ograničenoj površini novčića. Revers se često koristio za komuniciranje vladarevih postignuća ili namjera, te simbola atribuiranih određenom božanstvu. Najstariji novci Farosa, Herakleje, Korkire Melaine i Ise u stilskom i tehničkom smislu su vrlo bliski sa sirakuškim kovanjem novca 4.st.pr.Kr. Na kovanicama gradova Dalmacije najviše su zastupljeni novci s prikazima Zeusa, Perzefone, Demetre, Herakla i Atene, dok u nešto manjoj mjeri i oni s prikazima Artemide i Apolona. Ta se božanstva javljaju i na novcima grčkih polisa koji su ih smatrali svojim zaštitnicima. Isa i Faros dvije su najvažnije grčke kolonije na istočnoj obali Jadranskog mora te su se kao otočne kolonije bavile pomorstvom, ribolovom i trgovinom, u kojoj je presudna uloga razvoja novca koji je bio u optjecaju na Jadranu. Tipični simboli koji su se pojavljivali na novcu, osim prikaza božanstava i likova vladara, su koza, srna, grozd i kantaros. Kvaliteta prikaza je visoka, osobito na novcu farske i isejske produkcije koji iskazuje možda pomalo zakasnjelu klasičnu inspiraciju, ali zato visoku vještinu i ljupkost izradbe.
Abstract (english)
The praise and glorification of their gods, Greeks have transferred to coins - their official method of payment. The profile portrait was used because it suited very shallow depth and limited coin surface. Reverse was often used to communicate ruler’s achievements or intentions, as well as symbols attributed to the particular deity. The oldest coins of Faros, Isa, Herakleja, Korkira Melaina in stylish and technical sense are very close to the Syracuse’s coinage from the 4th century BC. Most of the coins from the cities of Dalmatia are represented with the depictions of Zeus, Persephone, Demeter, Heracles and Athens, while to a lesser extent there are those of Artemis and Apollo. Same deities appear on the money of those Greek polis which considered them to be their protectors. Isa and Faros were two of the most important Greek colonies on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. As island colonies they engaged in maritime affairs, fishing and trade, where the decisive role of money development in circulation in the Adriatic has been. Typical symbols that appeared on money, besides displaying deities and rulers, were goats, roe dears, grape and kantharos. The quality of the display is high, especially on coins that Faros and Isa produced, which shows a little late classical inspiration, but also high skills and simplicity of the production.
