The aim of this final paper was to explore the importance and role of family upbringing in the development of an early and preschool child. Nowdays, the family is facing a lot of chalanges in every day life and in particular in regards with a relationships between different family generations. Also, changes within the family are visible in the structure and functions themselves. In both traditional and modern families, there are different styles of parenting that significantly affect a child's development, especially during the first years of life. The early and preschool age of a child is a significant period of life, especially due to various developmental changes, and at the same time the family is crucial for the adoption of fundamental values, attitudes and knowledge. Despite the various social changes it has undertaken, the family will always be a safe place and the first community in which a child adopts social skills to successfully adapt to the society. The healthy development of a child requires love, security, support and attention, therefore family is still the only one who can fullfill these needs. Furthermore, the quality of free time that parents spend with their children as well as the level of involvement in the child's play is of a great importance. Nowdays, the child develops under various influences within the family, but also under the influence of the media and various technological achievements. Therefore, parents and family should actively participate in the upbringing of the child, and actively contribute to creating a healthy and stimulating environment.
