Abstract
Talijanski član nastao je kao posljedica nestanka latinskih padežnih dočetaka uzrokovanog različitim jezičnim promjenama. Značenje koje je bilo sažeto u samo jednom morfemu moralo se izražavati drugim jezičnim konstrukcijama, kao što je upotreba člana. Određeni član razvio se iz latinske pokazne zamjenice ILLE, a neodređeni iz broja UNUS, -A, -UM. Najranije talijanske gramatike nisu smatrale član zasebnom vrstom riječi. Budući da su konteksti koji zahtijevaju njegovu upotrebu postajali sve brojniji, uloga člana se promijenila. Cilj ovog rada je analizirati načine na koje su član, njegovi oblici i upotreba predstavljeni u talijanskim gramatikama napisanim od 15. do 20. stoljeća. Analizirano je osam gramatika, po jedna za svako stoljeće, osim za 18. i 19. stoljeće za koja su, zbog njihove važnosti, uzete u obzir po dvije gramatike. Gramatike su potom uspoređene kako bi se proučile sličnosti i razlike u oblicima i upotrebi člana.
Abstract (english)
The Italian article developed as a consequence of the disappearance of the Latin case endings caused by various language changes. The meaning once comprised in only one morpheme had to be conveyed by other language means, such as by using articles. The definite article derived from the Latin demonstrative ILLE, and the indefinite article from the number UNUS, -A, - UM. The earliest Italian grammars did not consider the article as an autonomous word class. Since the contexts which required its use became more and more numerous, the role of the article changed. The aim of this paper is to analyse the ways the article, its forms and its usage are presented in the Italian grammars written from the 15th to the 20th century. Eight grammars were examined, one per each century, except for the 18th and the 19th century for which two grammars were taken into consideration because of their relevance. The grammars were then compared in order to analyse the differences and the similarities in the forms and the usage of article.
