The period before starting school is the "golden age of creativity", and educator’s attitudes towards creativity largely determine whether, and to what extent a childs creative potential will be fulfilled. The aim of this research is to examine the attitudes of educators about children's creativity, the characteristics of a creative child and the environments and strategies that promote children's creativity in order to realize the full creative potential of children. The research task was to determine whether the younger generations of educators (who have three or five years of formal education) are better acquainted with the nature and importance of creativity for the overall development of early and preschool children and do they better understand the characteristics of a creative child than their older colleagues. The interest of researcher was also focused on the lenght of work expirience of educators to determine whether educatots with longer work experience pay more attention to designing an environment that encourages children's creativity. A survey was conducted on a sample of 162 educators currently employed in public kindergartens in the Split-Dalmatian County. The research is focused on understanding the nature of creativity, the characteristics of a creative child and the environments that encourage children's creativity. The analysis of the obtained data shows that younger educators better understand the nature of creativity than their older colleagues, but also that they are not better acquainted with the characteristics of a creative child and that there is no significant difference in understanding the environment that encourages children's creativity between educators with less and more than ten years of service.
