Abstract
Ovaj završni rad bavi se analizom dviju drama Augusta Strindberga: Otac i Gospođica Julija, s posebnim naglaskom na razradu obiteljske problematike. August Strindberg švedski je književnik koji je slavu, u prvom redu, stekao naturalističkim dramama među kojima su najpoznatije upravo ove dvije drame. Književni pravac nazvan naturalizam odlikuje se izravnim oslanjanjem na iskustvo i prirodne znanosti te gradi likove koji su motivirani urođenim i nasljeđenim strastima i nagonima. Cilj je ovog rada izdvojiti takve osobine iz Strindbergovih likova i prikazati ih u kontekstu obiteljske drame. Prvi dio rada posvećen je teorijskom izučavanju Strindbergova života i stvaralaštva te poetike naturalizma, osobito u dramskom stvaralaštvu, dok se Otac i Gospođica Julija obrađuju u drugom dijelu rada.
Abstract (english)
This thesis deals with the analysis of two dramatic works of August Strindberg: ‘The Father’ and ‘Miss Julie’, with special emphasis on the family issues. August Strindberg was a Swedish author who became famous primarily by writing naturalistic playwrights among which the best known are exactly the two aforementioned. Literary approach known as naturalism is distinguished by leaning on direct experience and epistemology as well as natural science while forming characters with innate and inherited passions and drives. Aim of this thesis is to extrapolate such characteristics of Strindberg’s characters and contextualize them in his familial playwrights. First part of thesis is focused on the theoretical examination of Strindberg’s life and work as well as the poetics of naturalism with special emphasis in his playwrights, while ‘The Father’ and ‘Miss Julie’ are analyzed in the second part of the thesis.
