Abstract
Märchen sind eine alte literarische Gattung, die wundersame Ereignisse mündlich überliefert. Im deutschsprachigen Raum sind besonders die Gebrüder Grimm bekannt, deren Sammlung von Kinder- und Hausmärchen sie zu den Gründungsvätern der Germanistik macht. Anders als Sagen und Legenden sind Märchen frei erfunden und enthalten fantastische Elemente wie Hexen, Zwerge und Geister. Sie reflektieren oft soziale Rollen und gesellschaftliche Bedingungen wie Armut und Familienstrukturen. Die Grimm‘schen Märchen, darunter Aschenputtel, Dornröschen und Rotkäppchen, wurden in über 150 Sprachen übersetzt und sind weltweit bekannt. In meiner Arbeit analysiere ich drei Märchen – Rapunzel, Aschenputtel und Rotkäppchen sowie den Film Into the Woods. Der US-amerikanische Märchenfilm von Rob Marshall aus dem Jahr 2014 basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Broadway-Musical von James Lapine und Stephen Sondheim, die auch am Film beteiligt waren. Die Hauptrollen spielen Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden und Anna Kendrick. Ziel meiner Arbeit ist es, die klassischen Grimm-Märchen und den Film zu vergleichen und Unterschiede sowie Gemeinsamkeiten herauszuarbeiten, um auf die Emanzipation der Märchen und ihrer Figuren hinzuweisen.
Abstract (english)
Fairy tales are an old literary genre that belongs to oral literature and deals with miraculous and fantastic events. The Grimm brothers are one of the most famous authors of children's stories. Unlike sagas and legends, fairy tales are purely fictional and contain fantastic elements such as witches, dwarfs, and ghosts. They often reflect social roles and conditions such as poverty and family structures. The Grimm fairy tales, including Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood, have been translated into over 150 languages and are known worldwide. In my work, I analyse three fairy tales – Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood as well as the film Into the Woods. The 2014 American fairy tale film directed by Rob Marshall is based on the Broadway musical of the same name by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, who were also involved in the film. The main roles are played by Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, and Anna Kendrick. The aim of my work is to compare the classic Grimm fairy tales with the film and to highlight similarities and differences to illustrate the emancipation of the fairy tales and their characters.
