This thesis analyzes and highlights various aspects of volleyball as an extracurricular activity with an emphasis on its impact on children and youth. The work begins with a general section on extracurricular activities, followed by the basic characteristics of volleyball and its elements of play. Furthemore, it outlines the specificities of training children in volleyball, focusing on psychological aspects and the characteristics of both the training and the trainers working with school children, as well as the influence of volleyball on physical development and health in children. Data on the number of elementary school-aged participants in various volleyball schools in Split and its surroundings have been collected. Emphasis is placed on mini and small volleyball, with a description of the rules and specifics of the game for younger age groups. The inclusion of children in volleyball and the role of parents in a child's sports involvement are also described. An analysis of various literature confirms that volleyball plays a significant role in the development of children and youth on all levels, indicating its comprehensive benefits for the overall development of young individuals.
