Comic as a special kind of an art synthesizes knowledge in the field of art, literature, language and film, and plays with them in a special way with his own expressive techniques. Its status of art, rich history, masterpieces in the field of comics and the diversity of its customers confirm the artistic value of comics. Even thought it is in contact with the other arts, comic book is an autonomous art form. It is one of the first literary experiences of children, and also children willingly read comics at school age. Characterized by humor comic may be useful in education in many ways. For example, it can be used in the prevention of aggressive behavior. Strip can also contribute to creating a pleasant atmosphere in the classroom, a better relationship between students and teacher and also can be used as break in moments of fatigue. With the aim of research multifuncionality of comics in the Croatian education system, this paper analyzes the curricula from various decades, recent school curricula in Split area and textbooks of all subjects and at all grade levels of primary school. It turned out that the outcomes, contents and activities relating to learning and teaching about comic are significantly more represented in the more recent curricula, that they are partially presented in the recent school curricula in which they may be represented much more in various ways, and that the comic as a didactic and methodical solution is used in very small number of textbooks (except the Croatian and English language) in various stages of hour and with different functions. Since there are numerous possibilities for learning and teaching about the comic and since there are numerous possibilities of the use of comic as a didactic and methodological solutions in the educational process, according to the results of research it is possible to conclude that these opportunities are only partially and underutilized. Numerous examples and suggestions of its use may contribute to more frequent and better use of comic and enhance the learning and teaching about comic in the educational process.
