Creating personal identity, and also cultural and historical reflection of society, comes into play in the process of dressing. With clothes, person interacts with its environment, and is is defined through messages sent to other users by choosing the way hey dress - what one dress determines how the society will see him/her. Clothing style is determined by external and internal processes. The work examines the contemporary setting of globalization and puts the focus on the traditional aspects of the local environment. For the purposes of this study, young people aged 20 to 29 years old, who live in the city of Split, were interviewed. By analyzing the personal style of dress, but also analysis of dressing of other people, aspects of the past and revive of tradition were observed. In terms of revival, retro and ethnic styles of dress revives the fashion trends, cultural and historical elements of traditional clothing. Revitalization of local identity through the use of traditional elements in modern clothes, is reflected in the analysis of national costumes in relation to the occurrence of etnoelemenats in the personal style of dressing. Elements of traditional clothing, traditional costumes, incorporated into the contemporary design of clothes, create individual style and manner of expression of cultural and ethnic background.
