Food has a significant impact on health throughout the life of each person. Nutrition of early school children aged from 7 to 11 years old, must be proper and balanced. The quantity and quality of child nutrition are directly related to their mental and physical development. Deficient and irregular nutrition has negative effect on nutritional status, as well as the general health condition and the working capacity of the child. Insufficient and inadequate nutrition is accompanied by a permanent tiredness, weakness, loss of appetite, weight loss, excessive sensitivity and other various child diseases. Malnutrition is a serious health problem and the range of possible causes is extremely wide. Regardless of whether it is organic or inorganic causes of child malnutrition, basically, it is always result of the following four factors: insufficient food intake, reduced utilization of food, increased loss of food and increased food needs. Due to the growth, development and identification of children who deviate from the established nutrition criteria for specific school age children, particular attention should be given to the level of nutrition in schools. School nutrition enables a greater degree of socialization, thus improving children relationships, but also reduces the risk of developing eating disorders.
