Good health is not something we can buy. It depends on our choices and behaviours and because of it we have to know the importance of our health and be aware of the benefits of healthy living. Starting a university is a huge milestone in our lives and balancing between studying, taking exams and caring for yourself and your health can be very challenging. Healthy lifestyle consists of multiple factors such as healthy diet, physical activity, avoiding addictive substances and psychological factors. The aim of this study was to find out do students of the Teachers College in Split have healthy habits and their attitude about a healthy lifestyle. For the purposes of the study, an anonymus survey was conducted involving 162 students from the first to the fifth year of the Teachers College. The results show students' high awareness of a healthy lifestyle and even though they know its benefits, students do not apply healthy habits to a sufficient extent. Half of the students do not care about their nutrition and being physicaly active. But those who are more active, have a healthier diet. Students show a more frequent consumption of alcohol and coffee and also a significant amount of them is not getting enough sleep which is putting their health at risk. In addition to that, large number of them showing troubles with anxiety and insomnia could be linked with their numerous responsabilities. There is no universal way of adopting good, healthy habits as well as accepting your flaws and virtues. Caring for yourself, rethinking your actions, creating new behaviour patterns and mindsets leads to personal development. Students should work on applying healthy habits as key factors of an overall well-being and the educational system should be giving better support and encourage students to be healthy.
