Self-care is an increasingly popular topic today. The attitude to one's own appearance, that is, the body has become one of the values of contemporary society. Looking good at the same time means being healthy. Although there is a large number of research dealing with the topics of physical appearance and physical health of young people, with this research I tried to contribute to the understanding of this topic through body and health perceptions of young people in a contemporary social context in the city of Zagreb and the city of Split. This is a quantitative research aimed at examining the attitude towards health and care of one's own body through examination of the frequency of practicing different exercises, spiritual practices, methods of treatment and beautification, as well as the use of certain supplements. 1561 young man and women from Zagreb and Split participated in the research. Of the conventional ways of caring for the body and health, young people in the largest distributions run, use protein preparations, practice prayer, take medicine and go to wellness treatments. Among the alternative ways, in the largest distributions, they practice joga, consume teas, practice meditation, homeopathy and use baths. There are statistically significant differences in the practice of alternative methods of exercise, women practice joga more often, while men practice Qi Gong and tai chi more often. Also, there are statistically significant difference in the use of essential oils, where those who declare themselves religious use essential oils less often as a method of spiritual practice.
