The sociology of music is relatively young discipline which started developing during the last decade of 20th century. Music is weaved into the social basis of human life and it takes a prominent position in everyday life, therefore, it must be well developed. Music represents the excellent aim of the research to sociologists, because they can decode various meanings that hide behind musical messages, and also they approach to music in accordance with it's functions. Research subject is the content dimensona of the Croatian musical texts, while the main research objective is to evaluate the transfer level of messages and meaning in top 20 Croatian musical texts in 2014. and 2015. and also to establish the frequency of subliminal messages. Theme field and motives as well as the representation of figures of speech and the way in which Croatian musical text can attract listeners are studied by the quantitative analysis of the content. Analysis has showed that the theme field of the Croatian musical texts is usually love, regardless of genre, while the most common motive is also, love. The most common genre turned out to be pop, while the most common way of attracting attention is dissatisfaction (regardless of theme field) with love status or issues. The time determination of the texts is present, and the transmission of messages is mostly made by the figures of speech, on the two existing levels: manifest (by using metonymy) and latent (by using comparison). In the end, in analyzed Croatian musical texts figurative meaning are more likely to be present through different association, while the presence of subliminal messages hidden meaning, has not been noticed. In other words, what we see and hear does not exceed the limits of our perceptive possibilities.
