This thesis deals with issues of establishment of People's Republic of Croatia in the second Yugoslavia. In the introductory part the emphasis is on the period during the Second World War and on the organization of National Liberation Committee and ZAVNOH as the authorities that will play a significant role in the formation of the People's Republic Croatia state administration. Furthermore, the author deals with the issue of the independence degree of the Croatian state within the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia, and strives to come to an answer by analyzing the organization of the PRC state administration and the ability to independently resolve issues of republic importance. The thesis also deals with the inevitable issues of the concept of “people's democracy” as the ideological concept conceived by the Soviet Union, under which the SSSR sought to expand their influence avoiding the intervention of Western powers. The author represents the position of FPRY and the PRC within the broader, European concept of “people's democracy”. With the analysis of several monographs of contemporary historiographers, the author attempts to come to a conclusion about the position of modern historiography towards the period from 1945 untill 1950 when a new Croatian state was formed. At the same time, notices a difference in the attitude of the historiographers of older and those of more recent period. The thesis also brings the appendices among which there are excerpts from the PRC's Constitution, which confirm the author's views and conclusions.
