Abstract
U radu je detaljno opisan sindrom Down, te karakteristike djeteta kojemu je dijagnosticiran. Objašnjava se pojam inkluzije, njena uspješnost, odnosno neuspješnost u današnjem odgojnoobrazovnom sustavu. Opisuje se kvaliteta interakcije djece sa sindromom Down i njihovih vršnjaka, pojašnjavaju se načini kojima se ta interakcija može olakšati i pospješiti. Spominje se važnost vršnjačkih odnosa za socijalno-emotivni razvoj djeteta sa sindromom Down, ali i djece općenito. Kritizira se tradicionalan sustav obrazovanja, u kojem je fokus usmjeren na znanju, a ne na stvaranju ugodne socijalne klime i ostvarivanju kvalitetnih odnosa među učenicima.
Abstract (english)
The paper describes the Down Syndrome and the characteristics of the child who is diagnosed with one. It explains the concept of inclusion, its success or failure in contemporary systems of education. It describes the quality of interaction between children who are diagnosed with Down Syndrome and their peers and reveals the ways in which this interaction can facilitate and stimulate. It also highlights the importance of such relationships for the child’s socialemotional development, for those diagnosed with Down Syndrome as well as children in general. Traditional education system is being criticized as well as its focus purely on knowledge rather than creating a pleasant social climate and achieving high-quality relationships among students.
