Upravljanje karijerom predstavlja jedan od velikih izazova novijih desetljeća te je stoga bilo temom ovog rada. Općenito, karijera obuhvaća niz aktivnosti usmjerenih na profesionalni razvoj čiji su osnovni pokretači motivacija i izobrazba, posebice obrazovanje i usavršavanje. Stoga je u ovom radu detaljnije opisana važnost formalnog obrazovanja u procesu razvoja karijere, kao i uloga neformalnog obrazovanja te cjeloživotnog usavršavanja u ovom kontekstu.
