Abstract
Ovaj završni rad objašnjava žanr spekulativne fikcije i njegove elemente kako bi se jednostavnije moglo zaključiti zašto je roman Never Let Me Go Kazua Ishigura spekulativan. U drugom dijelu se istražuje kako se psihoanalitička metoda može primijeniti na roman Never Let Me Go u svrhu razumijevanja pitanja o identitetu, smrti i emocijama. Psihoanalitička interpretacija fokusira se na način kako se glavni likovi, to jest klonovi, suočavaju s determiniranom sudbinom, u ovom slučaju, donacijom organa. Trauma ograničene egzistencije oslobađa se u oblicima kojima se bavi cjelokupna grana psihoanalize. Nadalje, odnosi u kontekstu zadanog romana razvijaju se na specifične načine kroz koje se primjenjuju Freudove i Lacanove studije o kompleksima i narcističkim tendencijama. Na kraju se objašnjava nagon smrti koji se manifestira kao konačno prihvaćanje tragedije života klonova, unaprijed uništen totalitarističkim društvom.
Abstract (english)
This final paper explains the genre of speculative fiction and its elements to more easily conclude why Kazuo Ishiguro's novel Never Let Me Go is considered speculative. The second part explores how the psychoanalytic method can be applied to Never Let Me Go in order to understand questions of identity, death, and emotions. The psychoanalytic interpretation focuses on how the main characters, namely the clones, cope with their predetermined fate, in this case, organ donation. The trauma of their limited existence is expressed in ways that align with the broader field of psychoanalysis. Furthermore, the relationships within the context of the novel develop in specific ways through which Freud's and Lacan's studies on complexes and narcissistic tendencies are applied. Finally, the paper explains the death drive, which manifests as the ultimate acceptance of the tragedy of the clone's lives, destroyed in advance by a totalitarian society.
