This paper is permeated with the topic of violence in children's literature. The first chapter introduces the concept of children's literature and gaining experience from literature which includes reading books, manner of speech and expression. The fairy tale is one of the oldest forms of children's literature in which various strange characters are embedded into real event in an imaginative manner. Children first encounter this form of literary work which enables me to affect their education and thinking. Violence in literature may also be present, thus proving harmful for young readers. Critics have divided opinions on the impact of fairy tales on children and elements of violence in them. Some of the most famous fairy tales contain many elements of violence, such as Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Snow White or Sleeping Beauty. Apart from these, there are numerous other works containing elements of violence that may directly or indirectly influence children's thinking. But in general it can be said that fairy tales usually end happily, and that there is no firm evidence that they in any way adversely affect the child population.
