The paper investigates dysphasia as one of the speech-language disorders of the early period of language acquisition. Dysphasia or childhood aphasia is most briefly defined as a language disorder that affects the ability to produce and understand spoken language. The main difference between aphasia and dysphasia lies in the fact that dysphasia occurs when a child has acquired the basis of speech (before the onset of speech development), aphasia occurs in adulthood after speech is adopted. From the above it can be concluded that the term dysphasia is relatively new in modern medicine, its meaning enters into correlation with aphasia and special language difficulties. Primary dysphasia is defined as the failure or extreme difficulty in the use of language and speech. In speech, disturbances in the pronunciation of voices are noticed and damage to the CNS occurs before the thirrd year of life. Secondary dysphasia is always acquired and occurs due to brain damage after the third year of life, when speech is already formed. Škarić emphasizes the further branching of the two main types.
