This paper examines the provision of ethics education in secondary schools across Europe and globally, with particular emphasis on the role of ethics within national curricula, existing practices, and teaching approaches in Croatian schools.The study explores how ethics is taught in various educational systems, comparing curricula and teaching methods.It also addresses the strengths and weakn esses of integrating ethics into school curricula and proposes innovative solutions to enhance ethics education. A key focus is the role of ethics in developing students' moral reasoning, critical thinking, and social responsibility.The challenges posed by rapid societal changes are highlighted in relation to the implementation of effective ethics education in classrooms, and the relationship between ethics and religious education is discussed, with particular attention to the impact of secularization on cu rricula. The paper identifies key trends in European ethics education, including the introduction of ethics as an alternative to religious instruction, the challenges of pluralistic societies, and the influence of political and societal changes on ethics e ducation.Special attention is given to experimental programs and innovative approaches that could improve ethics education in Croatian schools, offering solutions for emerging challenges.Finally, the paper provides recommendations for improving ethics educ ation, emphasizing the need for interactive and interdisciplinary teaching approaches.
