This paper examines the influence of work experience, educational level, additional musical training, engaging with music in free time and going to the theatre or classical music concerts on the attitudes of primary school teachers towards the school subject Music. The research was conducted on a sample of primary school teachers from all Croatian counties (N=233) using a two-part questionnaire: The general information questionnaire and Attitudes about the school subject Music. The results confirm that the primary school teachers with less work experience have more positive attitudes about the Curriculum for the subject Music for primary schools and grammar schools in the Republic of Croatia, whereas in other aspects no difference was found. Furthermore, there were no differences found in the attitudes of primary school teachers towards the school subject Music regarding their educational level. Primary school teacher who have had additional musical training, who engage with music in their free time and who often go the theatre or classical music concerts consider Music to be an important school subject that relaxes students and they also regard themselves as more competent to teach Music than other teachers. The obtained results have significant musical and pedagogical implications in terms of conceptualizing the music education of future primary school teachers and their lifelong learning.
