This paper deals with the application of different concepts of style and stylistic approaches in the analysis of the poetry of Janko Polić Kamov. Different branches of stylistics, concepts of style and rhetoric as a forerunner of modern stylistics are presented before the analysis and interpretation of the poems. We find the concepts of French professor Antoine Compagnon applied: style is a norm, style is a deviation and style is a symptom. Kamov's style is both a norm and a deviation at the same time, because in the poem U deliriju (In delirium) he resorts to tradition by using form and motifs, and in the poem Preludij (Prelude) he writes about physicality in free verse. The concept of style as a symptom (individual) is applicable to Kamov's work because the author's style is authentic. The authenticity of the writing style is a product of the literary education and introspection of the individual. The analysis relies on the approaches of linguistic stylistics. Linguistic analysis consists of: discovering stylems, their categorization and the description of the stylems' functionality in the context of the author's poetics. When describing the functionality of stylems, the analysis goes beyond the frame of linguistic stylistics. A poem is not only viewed as a text separated from the author, it interprets the author's motif and stylistic choices by looking at them in the context of the author's life.
